The Ligue 1 clash between Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais has officially been rescheduled after the original fixture was postponed following an attack on the Lyon team bus on Sunday, which left coach Fabio Grosso with alarming facial injuries.

As the Lyon squad made their way to the Stade Velodrome at the weekend, the bus was targeted by projectiles launched from the street, shattering and in certain parts, completely smashing the windows.

Grosso was the most heavily affected, requiring 15 stitches on his face upon arrival at the stadium.

The game was then called off prior to kick-off given the major disruption to Lyon’s pre-match preparations.

The meeting of Marseille and Lyon was supposed to have provided a reunion between two of Italy’s 2006 World Cup winning squad in coaches Grosso and Gennaro Gattuso.

Ligue 1 have now officially announced that the rearranged fixture will take place on Wednesday December 6, the first available date in both teams’ calendars.
