Inter CEO Beppe Marotta discussed how the club are working to be economically sustainable and looked ahead to the Champions League final against Manchester City.

The Nerazzurri have already booked their spot in next season’s Champions League campaign by securing a top four finish, and now Simone Inzaghi’s side are preparing for the club’s biggest game in over a decade.

Inter have already lifted the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia this season, and one match separates Inzaghi and his players from writing themselves into the club’s history books, although they’ll have to overcome the odds against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Speaking to Varese7Press, Marotta was first asked how to run a club like Inter sustainably.

“There must be two objectives: on the one hand the valorisation of material resources, that is, the commercial area, matchdays and all sources of revenue such as sponsorship.

“On the other, the valorisation of human resources, a fundamental asset that should represent a healthy competitiveness within which there is competence, experience and professionalism.”

He touched on the importance of investing in the youth system.

“Fundamental, at the level of training talent we need to move on from that which is an investment and not a cost.”

Finally, Marotta looked ahead to the Champions League final against Manchester City.

“For us it is a source of great pride. We present ourselves with great merit, knowing that we are facing a favourite and highly respected opponent. But our awareness is to play it to the end with a great sense of belonging to this shirt and these colours.”

Inter will face Manchester City in the Champions League final at the Ataturk Stadium on June 10.
