“Inter’s future is going into a season in the Champions League and that is something to be proud of, now the bar will be raised again with positive intent to close the gap,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

What does the future hold for Alexis Sanchez and Lautaro Martinez?

“We have had some contact with Manchester United to understand if we can extend his stay after the Europa League play-off with Getafe.

“We are discussing contract renewals with many players, above all the younger ones who we want to work with for a long time, and that includes Lautaro.

“We’re doing it calmly, without rush, as there is a rapport of trust. He is happy to wear this jersey and at the opportune moment we will evaluate his future.”

Chiesa is surprisingly on the bench for Fiorentina this evening, perhaps because of the persistent rumours he will head to Inter next season.

“Chiesa is a Fiorentina player today, he might even be a Fiorentina player next season, that depends on them. I can assure you there have certainly not been any approaches or negotiations. We respect Fiorentina and the player.”
