Juventus chief Beppe Marotta confirmed “we like Dani Osvaldo” and will only sell Mirko Vucinic “if he asks to go.”

The general manager spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport at an event to commemorate club legend Gianni Agnelli at Palazzo Giustiniani this evening and opened up on some big transfer stories.

Sky Sport Italia are increasingly confident Juve will make a formal offer tonight for Southampton striker Osvaldo, who was suspended for attacking teammate Jose Fonte in a training session. They hope to take him on loan for €1.5m with an option to buy at the end of the season.

“We like Osvaldo and other clubs like him too,” commented Marotta. “He is an excellent player, but before buying anyone we need to sell.”

Vucinic had been on the verge of completing his transfer to Inter in exchange for Fredy Guarin when it was all called off at the last minute by Nerazzurri President Erick Thohir.

“Vucinic? He will leave only if he asks to go.”

Marotta was also asked about other stories hitting the headlines recently, including gossip around the future of Gianluigi Buffon’s marriage.

“Antonio Conte will soon renew his contract, there will be no problems with Andrea Agnelli. He can become our Alex Ferguson, even if in Italy a Coach isn’t quite a manager in the same way.

“Buffon is going through a difficult moment and has to divide the man from the athlete. I have no doubt he will manage it. He’s a great professional, our captain. He’ll beat away those blows.”
