Beppe Marotta maintains that while Inter ‘listened’ to Ivan Perisic, Arsenal forgot ‘the investment we made when we signed him.’

Perisic looks likelier to stay at Inter than join Arsenal after the Nerazzurri refused to budge on their stance of not loaning the winger out, and Marotta made it clear that would not change before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

“It’s absolutely an important game in a splendid tournament,” the CEO told Radio Rai, referring to Thursday’s Coppa Italia quarter-final against Lazio.

“We want to achieve something important this season, but first we have to overcome Lazio, who are absolutely a strong team.

“Perisic? We’ve listened to the desire of the player, but we must also take into account any clubs who are interested in him and his asset value, which represents the investment Inter made when they signed him.

“De Paul? We’re watching several players but right now it’s too early to talk about that. We’re focused on this particularly hot part of the season. There’s still time to talk about June.

“Inter are a club with pedigree and history, an elite club. They’ve had to undergo changes in ownership, so it’s normal for the difficulties to exist, but we’re focused on eliminating them as soon as possible.”
