Director general Beppe Marotta has confirmed that Juventus intend to keep hold of Sebastian Giovinco, as they edge closer to taking full ownership of the player.

The Bianconeri are on the verge of completing the €11m purchase of the remaining 50 per cent of the player’s rights from Parma.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a number of other parties this summer, but Marotta has looked to end speculation by confirming that Juve’s move is to hold on to the player, rather than sell him on at a profit.

“We are redeeming Giovinco because we want him to stay at Juventus,” Marotta told reporters outside the Lega Serie A headquarters on Tuesday evening.

“This is a product of our youth system, who has gained experience in the provinces and now it is right to give him an opportunity reflective of his value.”

The director was then asked about rumoured interest in young Italian forwards Fabio Borini and Mattia Destro.

“Destro, yes, we are interested in him, but he’s also interesting other clubs. Borini is a great player, but we can’t go for everyone.”
