“I am very happy to have arrived at this club,” said Marlon in his presentation Press conference.

“I thank everyone for putting their faith in me and can’t wait to prove myself. Sassuolo have a similar philosophy to Barcelona and that makes it much easier for me to settle in.

“Everything I saw in the training session was on show in the game against Inter and that really impressed me.”

The Neroverdi and Coach Roberto De Zerbi began their season with a 1-0 victory over Scudetto contenders Inter, decided by a Domenico Berardi penalty.

“Many Brazilian defenders have succeeded in Serie A. I hope Italy is the right place for me to continue my growth process too.

“My idols are Thiago Silva and Sergio Ramos, so one day I’d love to reach their level.”
