Mario Suarez believes Fiorentina can “follow in the footsteps of Atletico Madrid” with Coach Paulo Sousa.
The midfielder arrived over the summer and struggled to adapt at first, but is now settling in with the Serie A leaders.
“Being top of the table doesn’t put pressure on us, but we must continue like this and stay up there,” Suarez told Mediaset Premium.
“This requires a lot of work, faith and good luck, but Florence is the perfect atmosphere for us to succeed.

“Paulo Sousa is an excellent Coach and we hope to follow in the footsteps of Atletico Madrid in 2014. We have a different playing style to the Colchoneros in 2013-14, but hope the results can be the same with victory in the title.
“We must follow Sousa’s directives and the fans represent the 12th man. If we want to be protagonists this season, we have to treat every game as a Final.
“We have many good players and show good football, so must continue with this attitude.”
