Mario Rui has told Aurelio De Laurentiis that he’d like to leave Napoli this month should an offer arrive, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The 32-year-old Portuguese full back has been hoping to renew his contract with the Partenopei for a little while now and was even willing to lower his salary in order to push through a new deal, but no progress has been made.

With only weeks to go until the start of the new Serie A season, Rui still hasn’t penned a new deal with Napoli and is now starting to seriously consider his next steps.

As detailed by Gianluca Di Marzio and Francesco Modugno of Sky Sports Italia, Rui’s agent contacted Rudi Garcia and De Laurentiis yesterday to make it clear that his client would look to leave Napoli should an offer arrive.

The 32-year-old is frustrated that he’s not been offered a new contract yet, despite a promise made by the Napoli president. He has two years left on his current deal.
