Mario Rui has officially signed a new contract to remain at Napoli until 2026, but reports insist Piotr Zielinski has changed his mind on joining Al-Ahli.

The Partenopei have had several close calls with potential exits only to then tie them down to extended deals at a lower salary.

This afternoon, President Aurelio De Laurentiis announced via social media that Portuguese full-back Mario Rui has put pen to paper on a new contract to June 2026.

His current deal had been due to expire at the end of this season and his agent was very vocal in his irritation that the player was not being given enough respect for his value.

Meanwhile, after last week reports that Zielinski had turned down a move to the Saudi Pro League because his wife has no intention of living there, now the situation seems to have changed again.

It is suggested Zielinski is close to a move for €15m, which would then be reinvested in signing Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo.
