Udinese director Pierpaolo Marino – whose club shares owners with Watford – revealed this evening that “the Premier League is about to announce its season is over.”
The comment came after Belgium’s Jupiler League declared it would not resume following the coronavirus pandemic, although Club Brugge had already been crowned champions anyway.
“The Belgian Federation has already sanctioned the end of their league, despite the threats of sanctions from UEFA,” Marino told Sportitalia.

“In England, the Premier League is about to release a similar statement, because the situation there is becoming very, very serious. I frankly just hope we can enjoy football again after the coronavirus.
“It doesn’t matter how long it takes, we need to get out of this danger zone. I am worried for the next seasons, not the old one.”
Udinese and Watford are both owned by the Pozzo family and are very strongly linked, repeatedly exchanging players on loan or permanent transfers.
If Marino claims the Premier League is ready to announce the 2019-20 season is over, he would have more knowledge of that than anyone else in Italy.
When the season was halted, Liverpool were clearly out on top with 82 points from 29 games, compared to Manchester City on just 57 points from 28 rounds.
