Atalanta general director Pierpaolo Marino has announced his resignation from the club, having reached ‘the end of a cycle.’

The 60-year-old brought an end to his four-year stay with La Dea at a Press conference today and revealed that he now plans to take a break from football.

“I asked for the termination of the contract,” Marino told reporters. “Even at the end of last season there were signs that the cycle was coming to an end.

“I asked for the termination of the contract,” Marino told reporters. “Even at the end of last season there were signs that the cycle was coming to an end.

“It was right for me to step aside for the good of the team, even though they tried to get me to stay.

“I’m not going anywhere, even though someone has already called for me. I will be out for a minimum of six months, then we will see.”
