Malaga midfielder Enzo Maresca has discussed his potential Sampdoria switch and desire to return home.

Maresca helped his current employers qualify for the Champions League last season but with the La Liga outfit experiencing severe financial difficulties, he is longing to ply his trade on the peninsula once more.

“At Malaga I am great, but after ten years abroad I want to return to my country”, the 32-year-old noted, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.

The former Under-21 international, who has gone on to represent Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”22″>Fiorentina, Juventus” data-scaytid=”9″>Juventus and Sevilla amongst others, made it clear that the move isn't sealed just yet though.

“As long as there’s nothing official and no 'ok' from both parties, I am still a player of Malaga. Right now I am concentrating on the Champions League preliminaries.

“Surely it would be a pleasure for me to be part of the Sampdoria project, but at the moment there is nothing new, no developments.”

If Maresca arrives, he will join Maxi Lopez, Marcelo Estigarribia and a string of others signing up at Ciro Ferrara led Samp this summer.
