The midfielder was released by Juventus in the summer to join Zenit St Petersburg, and he spoke to La Stampa about seeing calcio from the outside.

“Napoli have grown, Roma have proved their character despite the alternating trends and Inter just need consistency.
“The rivals are growing, it’s just that Juve are ahead by many years. They own their stadium, they have a brand that speaks to the world.
“That J is like the interlocking letters on the New York Yankees badge. To reach that level you need time and, above all, you need ideas.
“This year Juve have the awareness that they can win the Champions League.”
Marchisio was in the squad as the Old Lady lost two finals, would there be a bit of regret if they lift the trophy in the season after he left?
“Maybe for a second I’d be sorry, but I’m a Juventino. I was up in the Curva and I was on the pitch, then I won so much with that shirt that there can be no regrets.”
