Napoli’s Morgan De Sanctis may be a regular in the Italian national squad, but Marco Ballotta insists that Lazio’s Federico Marchetti is the better ‘keeper.

The two custodians will come face to face at the weekend and the former Biancocelesti shot-stopper is a big fan of the summer signing from Cagliari” data-scaytid=”6″>Cagliari.

“Saturday will not just see a game between two great teams, but a match between two great goalkeepers,” Ballotta told Radio Gol.

“I prefer Marchetti as he’s younger than De Sanctis. He has more explosive characteristics too even if he sometimes makes some important errors.

“De Sanctis’ identity card goes against him, but he has the experience and the reliability to be amongst the top three goalkeepers in Italy.”

Marchetti actually kept goal for Italy at World Cup 2010 after Gigi Buffon was ruled out with injury.

However, he was sidelined for the entirety of the 2010-11 campaign after a dispute with Rossoblu President Massimo Cellino.

De Sanctis is a contender to make Italy’s Euro 2012 squad, while Marchetti is only an outsider at the present time.
