Rolando Maran’s Chievo will face Napoli with “the same enthusiasm” which has lifted them to third-place.

The Flying Donkeys are just a point behind the Partenopei after an excellent start to the season, and travel to San Paolo on Saturday.

“Let’s keep smiling against the Azzurri, just as we’ve been doing, with the same enthusiasm,” Maran said in his pre-match Press conference.

“Beyond the result it’ll be important to see what kind of performance we put in, to measure ourselves against a team which is doing better than anyone at home.

“They’re the only team which is yet to lose, so we’ll need enthusiasm to compete in a difficult game like this one.

“We have a day less than Napoli, because they played on Saturday while we played on Sunday [before the midweek round]. Three games in six days isn’t easy, but with the right enthusiasm, those labours can be shaken-off quickly.

“We know that we’re facing a team which will force us to run a lot, but we’ve trained for that so we’ll be ready.

“The nice thing is that, in football, 1+1 doesn’t always equal 2. That’s what we’re planning to happen.

“Napoli have shown that their attack can cause you problems if you just sit in and wait for them, we’ll try to play our game as we do on any pitch against any team.”

Maran also had words of praise for his opposite number on Saturday, Partenopei Coach Maurizio Sarri.

“I’m glad that Maurizio is proving his worth, and that shows that from a technical point of view Italian Coaches have great ability.”
