Catania Coach Rolando Maran revisits his past in Verona when visiting Chievo this weekend. “They represent my football life.”

Maran played for the Flying Donkeys from 1986 to 1995, then worked as assistant manager there in 1997-98.

“Chievo represent my football life and I had a wonderful time there,” he said.

“When I retired as a player, I then started my coaching career there too. I had all I could’ve wanted from Chievo.

“However, we must set my past aside and go to Verona with more belief, as it is an important step in terms of our reaction to recent results.”

The Elefantini are still in the running for a place in Europe, although they have lost momentum lately.

“Europe is a dream and we have to continue believing in it,” Maran told Tuttosport.

“If the gap does grow, then it’s not as if our entire season is worth throwing in the bin. At the start we were tipped for relegation, so to forget what we have achieved would be a terrible shame.”
