Rolando Maran believes Chievo ‘deserved a point’ after the Flying Donkeys lost 1-0 at Fiorentina.

An early strike by Cristiano Biraghi was enough to secure an important win for Stefano Pioli’s team, handing Chievo an eighth defeat in 10 games.

“We didn’t start well but the conditions didn’t allow us to raise the tempo,” Maran reflected after his side failed to build on last week’s win over Cagliari.

“The same thing happened to Fiorentina in the second half.

“The difference was that they were able to find the goal and we weren’t, even though we deserved a point.

“The Viola scored after a throw in, but in terms of chances we had as many as they did.

“I was convinced that we would equalise at the end, we created a lot of dangerous situations but unfortunately the ball didn’t go in.”

Defeat leaves Chievo fourteenth in the table, five points above the relegation zone.
