Rolando Maran is widely reported to have returned to Catania overnight to replace Luigi De Canio as Coach, after just 12 games away.

De Canio only replaced Maran on the bench at the end of October, but is seen as having been moved out by the Sicilians after failing to impress in 12 matches in charge.

With 11 of those in Serie A having left Catania bottom of the table, De Canio’s position was seen as untenable after yesterday evening’s 4-1 Coppa Italia elimination to Siena.

Whilst Ciro Ferrara was initially linked with the role, Maran is believed set to take training today after reaching an agreement overnight to return to the Elefanti.

Maran’s re-hire is effectively a return from gardening leave and he is contracted to Catania until June 2015.

The club have yet to officially confirm the change in Coach.
