Diego Armando Maradona sees Lorenzo Insigne as the key for Italy’s World Cup showdown with Uruguay.

The Azzurri need at least a point on Tuesday in order to progress in the tournament.

“Italians are always tough to beat and in the moments of difficulty they find that incredible team spirit, like few sides in the world are capable of,” Maradona told Il Mattino newspaper.

“This is why I say they are anything but down and out.

“However, now Prandelli has to make changes for the next game. In my view, Insigne is a talent who deserves to play more often.”

The Napoli youngster came off the bench in the 1-0 defeat to Costa Rica, but repeatedly fell foul of the offside trap.

Costa Rica were meant to be the minnows of Group D, but have already booked their ticket to the last 16, while England are eliminated.

“I think the fact Costa Rica can celebrate their qualification is wonderful, especially as they’ve already been able to knock out England,” continued Maradona.

“Nobody would’ve said that before the World Cup started.”
