Should Devis Mangia wish to take the Italy Under-21 job, he will have to break his Palermo contract without severance pay, the Rosanero confirm.

Mangia confirmed yesterday that initial contact between himself and the Italian Football Federation has taken place, over the prospect of the 38-year-old replacing Ciro Ferrara as Coach of the Italy Under-21 team.

However, as the Coach reflected yesterday, he still needs to agree to break from his Palermo contract.

Mangia was relieved of his duties in Sicily last December, but remains officially attached to the Rosanero until June 30, 2013.

Both director general Giorgio Perinetti and President Maurizio Zamparini have commented this weekend on Mangia’s situation.

“I have heard from Devis,” Perinetti confirmed. “We will meet in the coming weeks to find a solution.”

However, it is not one that Zamparini says he wants to pay for.

“He will not get any severance pay, if he wants to go then it has to be for free.”
