Parma President Giampietro Manenti says there was ‘no time’ to do due diligence before taking over and admits he didn’t know the size of the debt.

The Ducali are facing bankruptcy, and may not be able to complete the season, but the owner insists that he has a plan to save the club.

“For due diligence you need 15-20 days, almost a month,” Manenti told Radio Sportiva.

“Sometimes there just isn’t time. It’s true that I wasn’t aware of everything, as we did the checks we noticed a few things.

“From the inside you can understand a little bit better. The prosecutors have called us to explain some things, and we’ll explain them.

The interview ended on a comical note, with police sirens heard in the background as Manenti finished speaking.
