Andrea Mandorlini would be “super proud” to take over as Inter Coach, but says there as been no “direct contact”.

The former Verona boss has previously admitted he’d love to take the job, and was touted as the best man for the role by Giovanni Trapattoni.

Now the tactician has reiterated his desire to Coach the Nerazzurri, and hints there may have been unofficial talks.

“It would definitely be something great for me,” Mandorlini told FCInter1908.

“I would be super proud, I’ve missed seeing Appiano Gentile for 20 years. Coaching Inter is my dream, I’m here.

“Has there been contact? Not directly. I was abroad watching games, I came back tonight and I’ve limited myself to reading and listening to what you [the media] have been saying.

“I know that a lot of people would be happy, I’ve heard a lot of good things and I’m glad about that.

“The problems? I can’t say anything, you can’t say what’s going on if you’re not inside. The change on the bench [De Boer replacing Roberto Mancini] might have affected things, they’ve definitely lost a bit of security but it’s definitely a very good squad.

“They have important potential, but I won’t judge the work of others without knowing things from the inside.

“Trapattoni? He’s a great Coach, I thank him for the words.”
