Andrea Mandorlini complimented both his Verona and defeated Cagliari after a thrilling match at the Bentegodi.

Hellas won 1-0 with a last-gasp Panagiotis Tachtsidis strike, though they had a goal incorrectly disallowed and hit the crossbar twice.

“We are very happy, as we won a beautiful game that was difficult, played well by both teams,” Coach Mandorlini told Sky Sport Italia.

“I think the victory was deserved, above all for the second half performance. Now we have 11 points and hope to continue doing well.

“I was happy with the team today, as we created and wanted to win, but I also compliment Cagliari for a great performance and with them you always risk conceding a goal.

“I am very fond of Tachtsidis, as he is a fantastic lad. He’s a little sluggish in some moves, but has matured after two or three years out on loan and now we’re going to enjoy his form.

“The lads wanted to dedicate a victory to Hallfredsson and finally we were able to do it.”

Iceland international midfielder Emil Hallfredsson made his comeback after 10 days away on compassionate leave following the death of his father.
