Roberto Mancini said “Inter have a problem, our strikers can’t just stand there and wait” after a 1-1 draw with 10-man Carpi.
The Nerazzurri now have one point from their last three home games against Lazio, Sassuolo and Carpi, as Kevin Lasagna scored the equaliser in stoppages.
“I am disappointed, this is the third game we’ve thrown away by gifting these late chances,” Mancini told Mediaset Premium and Sky Sport Italia.

“I am disappointed, this is the third game we’ve thrown away by gifting these late chances,” Mancini told Mediaset Premium and Sky Sport Italia.
“We have a bigger problem, which is that we can’t score goals. Our strikers can’t just stand there and wait for the ball to come, football is made up of brains as well as brawn.
“We had seven scoring opportunities today. Then at the 92nd minute we fell asleep. It’s not normal that we give away so many goals and chances.”
Mauro Icardi wasted a late chance to make it 2-0 on the counter and Mancini’s verdict was damning.
“I’m 50 years old and I could’ve scored that. You have to score there, you just have to. The strikers must realise they have to work to the 92nd minute, get the ball and protect it, even at the corner flag if necessary. You’ve got to think in football.
“By the looks of it, we’ll have to go on the market and buy another striker.
“We also have to realise that 1-0 is not a solid result, the opposition can always score, so we need determination to finish them off.
“We are throwing away everything we’ve created over the first 18 games.”
Mancini was involved in a row with Maurizio Sarri this week and they made up with peace brokered by TV show Le Iene.
Today in the 4-2 win over Sampdoria, Sarri was wearing the same scarf as Mancini.
“Le Iene brought it to him. If he wants to lend me Gonzalo Higuain in exchange…”
