“The problem when you win 11 in a row is that the moment there’s a draw, it gets seen as a failure,” Mancini told RAI Sport after Friday’s 1-1 result with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

“We had a decent game against Bosnia and will try to win tonight as well. In football, you can’t win them all, you can only give your best and go for the victory.”

Sassuolo midfielder Locatelli gets his senior Italy debut and is in the starting XI alongside Nicolò Barella and returning Jorginho.

“Locatelli has been playing in Serie A for many years, so I don’t think he’ll have problems. Jorginho is fundamental for us, as he dictates the tempo and knows precisely when to call the press, so he makes a big difference.”

Ciro Immobile starts for the first time since he won the Golden European Shoe as top scorer in club football. What is Mancini expecting from the Lazio striker?

“I hope he’ll score a couple of goals!”
