Roberto Mancini assured his objective as Italy Coach is to forge a team that “can play to win the Euros and then the World Cup.”

The new CT will make his debut on May 28 in a friendly with the UAE, followed by games against France and the Netherlands.

“I am very proud of what is happening to me. I think for a Coach to lead his national team is the maximum and I am very happy,” Mancini told the FIGC Twitter account.

“Unfortunately, in football there are difficult and negative moments, so we must find a way to bring the Nazionale back where it belongs.

“Italy have always been one of the best national teams in the world and therefore we hope to have all the components on our side to achieve that.

“My principle objectives are the same that the Nazionale have always had, which is to put a team on its feet quickly that can play to win the Euros and then the World Cup. There are no other objectives.

“The lads who come on international duty are professionals, they know what is required and what they have to do. Support the Nazionale, it belongs to all of us and Forza Azzurri.”
