The Coach took over a squad built for Walter Mazzarri’s 3-5-2 system and is therefore trying to reconstruct it in his image during the January transfer window.

Mancio already admitted tracking Atletico Madrid winger Alessio Cerci and insisted they were “not interested” in Lennon, despite recent reports to the contrary.

“Lucas Leiva? It’s tough to reach him, but he could help us because he has a lot of experience,” Mancini told Sport Mediaset.

“It’s not easy to discuss bringing in such a talented player who is currently at Liverpool.”

Due to a lack of regular first team football, it’s likely Liverpool will allow Lucas Leiva to move on loan in January.

However, Inter face stern competition from Napoli and ex-Reds manager Rafa Benitez.
