Galatasaray’s President has revealed that Roberto Mancini has rejected the idea of the club signing Milan forward Mario Balotelli.

The Italy international is increasingly speculated as available at the right price this summer and has been generally linked with a switch to either Monaco, or to any one of several Premier League sides.

Reports yesterday, though, were that Galatasaray were interested in bidding for the 23-year-old, to bring him in as Didier Drogba’s replacement.

However, the club’s President has denied that there is any truth to these and offered an explanation as to why.

“On Balotelli there have circulated only rumours, but nothing concrete,” Unal Aysal has told Galatasaray TV.

“I cannot deny that he is a player we appreciate, but Mancini has told me that he would not fit into our game, so he is not the right reinforcement for us.”

Gala manager Mancini has previously worked with Balotelli at Inter and Manchester City, handing him his senior debut with the Nerazzurri in 2007 before signing him for the Premier League side in 2010.

However, the duo’s time together ended in January 2013 with a training ground fight, before Balotelli’s sale to Milan less than a month later.
