As Roberto Mancini admits Alessio Cerci is a target, it’s reported Inter have begun negotiations with Atletico Madrid.

The winger only moved from Torino to Atleti on deadline day for €15m, but has struggled to make it into the starting XI.

“Is Cerci our primary objective for January? He could be, but we need to wait, as he is an Atletico Madrid player,” Mancini told Sport Mediaset.

“In that role we are lacking really top level players. We need to improve as a squad and it takes time for that.”

According to Quotidiano Sportivo, Cerci has already given Inter President Erick Thohir the go-ahead to pursue this transfer.

It could well be a loan deal for six months with option to buy, but Atletico Madrid are not happy about that plan.
