Manchester United are turning to Inter’s Fredy Guarin after refusing to meet the Juventus asking price for Arturo Vidal.

The Bianconeri are refusing to release Chile international Vidal for any less than €50m (£40.1m), or €45m plus Javier Hernandez.

This has reportedly scared off the Red Devils and manager Louis van Gaal, though he was asked about Vidal by reporters.

“I’ll discuss it with Ed Woodward, not with you,” was his response.

However, he did confess his current squad was lacking in quality, sitting “a little below that level.”

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are turning their focus towards Inter midfielder Guarin instead.

He’d be available for less than half the cost of Vidal and Inter are prepared to sell the Colombian.

Juventus have also been linked with Guarin, having been on the verge of signing him in January in exchange for Mirko Vucinic.

Inter pulled the plug on that move at the last minute, but his future remains in doubt at San Siro.
