Manchester United have reportedly told Inter that Romelu Lukaku will cost even more than the €84.7m paid to Everton in 2017.

The Nerazzurri confirmed they made a formal approach for the striker, but remain a very long way off in terms of valuation.

According to Sky Sports UK and the Telegraph, Manchester United want more than the money they paid to purchase him from Everton only two years ago, which was £79m (€84.7m).

Part of the problem is that Everton would also be owed an additional £5m by Manchester United.

If they continue to hold out for such sums, Inter will look elsewhere, having offered to spread the €70m bid out over a three-year period.

Lukaku just turned 26 and his performances for Manchester United have not lived up to expectations, with 15 goals and four assists in 45 competitive games last season.
