The official Genoa website confirmed Sheikh Mansour has given the all-clear to take part in the match and all proceeds will go to the families of those who lost their loved ones, houses and businesses in last week’s devastating floods.

At least six people died when a freak thunderstorm rapidly raised the level of the rivers and caused flash floods that swept through the centre of the city.

Arch rivals Genoa and Sampdoria have come together to organise the game, with the date not yet confirmed, to raise funds for those affected by the flood.

It is a particularly special city for Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, as he spent most of his playing career here with Sampdoria.

Because of the tragedy, Serie A fixture Genoa-Inter was postponed last Sunday and rescheduled for December 13.
