Mario Balotelli “will be really useful for Italy at Euro 2012,” says Manchester City assistant manager Fausto Salsano.

The striker had a chaotic campaign with great goals and red cards, meaning he is considered an unknown quantity with the Azzurri.

“Balotelli is in great shape and is fired up for the Euros,” Salsano told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“He is a great player and has some incredible qualities. Every now and then he gets up to something he shouldn’t, but he is a very important player and proved it again on Sunday when he came off the bench.

“This type of Balotelli will be really useful for Italy and Cesare Prandelli at Euro 2012.”

SuperMario provided the assist for Sergio Aguero’s extraordinary last-gasp Premier League title winner against QPR.

“The emotions were incredible, as we suffered and risked our coronaries that day. At the third goal there was such a huge cheer, it was a heart-stopping finale. I’ve never seen anything like it, but the important thing is it ended well for us!”

Salsano was also asked about the future transfer plans, such as reports Manchester City are preparing a bid for Napoli hitman Edinson Cavani.

“It’s too early to talk about Cavani. We’ve just finished celebrating and will soon have a meeting to plan out potential signings. We are in stand-by, but will certainly operate on the transfer market to sign important players.

“Our squad is competitive and we will reinforce in midfield and further in front, with a few wingers who have different characteristics. The objective is three or four important players to add to an already strong side.

“Ezequiel Lavezzi? I don’t think he will play for us next season. We have four world class strikers, though Lavezzi is wanted by all the top clubs and above all those who can afford to buy him, including Manchester City.”
