Alberto Malesani believes the Emilia-Romagna derby with Parma is the perfect opportunity for Bologna to rediscover their motivation.

The Felsinei thought they were safe from relegation after reaching the 40-point mark, but that's not certain now with a run of five consecutive defeats.

“I had already seen some improvements in the game against Cesena, while we played very well at Milan and even our opponents admitted a draw would've been the right result,” said the Coach.

“I had already seen some improvements in the game against Cesena, while we played very well at Milan and even our opponents admitted a draw would've been the right result,” said the Coach.

“Playing with that attitude in front of 70,000 people at San Siro allows us to be in the best state of mind for the derby.

“The atmosphere in the locker room is excellent. After a period of bitterness, we are smiling again.”

Bologna will have to do without several key players, as Massimo Mutarelli, Gaby Mudingayi and Francesco Della Rocca are suspended for this relegation dogfight.

Antonio Buscè, Gyorgy Garics and Andrea Esposito are out for the rest of the season due to injury.

“Franco Colomba has given a sense of balance to Parma and I'm happy for him,” continued Malesani.

“The side closes down spaces and has a precise identity. We have to play just as we did against Milan, by being aggressive and humble.

“We are playing to win, as we absolutely need to get a result. We still have to ensure Bologna's safety in Serie A, which will be the greatest moment of our journey.”
