CONI President Giovanni Malago believes Carlo Ancelotti “would be the ideal solution” for Italy.

The Azzurri are without a CT after Giampiero Ventura was sacked for failing to reach next summer’s World Cup.

Ancelotti has been touted as a potential replacement, and the head of the Italian Olympic Committee believes he’s the best candidate.

“It would be the ideal solution, the best of the opportunities,” Malago said on Radio Capital.

“I have no idea what he wants to do though. He has a contract with Bayern Munich, which I believe expires on June 30.

“Has someone already called him? I don’t know, but then who would call him? I hope that hasn’t happened.

“If there’s to be a call, only the next President of the FIGC or the commissioner can do it.”
