Manchester United striker Macheda and Reggiana man Romizzi were stand-out performers in the 2-1 win over Turkey, the Premier League star bagging a brace.

“I am happy with this performance and the team did great work,” said Macheda, who had repeatedly been benched by former Coach Pierluigi Casiraghi.

“I didn't expect such unity and synergy among teammates and I hope to continue this way. You never stop working and there are always new things to learn.

“I thank Ciro Ferrara for the faith he put in me. I hope to repay him with performances and goals.

“We'll see what Sir Alex Ferguson says when I return to England. I'm certain he will have been informed about my performance.”

If Macheda is returning to Old Trafford, then Romizzi goes back to Lega Pro side Reggiana.

“It was a good debut and I did everything I could,” he said. “I worked hard and found the right consistency with Reggiana, so that allows me to have good match fitness.

“The important thing is to play and have fun.”
