It is reported that Manchester United forward Federico Macheda is close to sealing a move to Cardiff City.

The 22-year-old has found his first team opportunities severely limited over the years at Old Trafford and has been sent out on a string of loans in recent years.

Three of the clubs at which he has served a temporary spell were English Championship sides – Queens Park Rangers, Doncaster Rovers and Birmingham City.

Now, numerous sources in the English media claim that the Italian is about to make a permanent move to the second tier.

The Bluebirds were relegated from the Premier League this season, with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now looking to bolster his squad as he bids to take the Welsh club back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
