Inter forward Romelu Lukaku hopes to ‘learn’ from the defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League Final, admitting it was ‘a very difficult moment’.

Diego Carlos’ bicycle kick was deflected in by Lukaku, who had scored the opener, to give Sevilla a 3-2 win in the Final in Cologne.

“It was a very difficult moment for me,” Lukaku told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I didn’t speak for four days.

“But one day, I woke up and I gave myself a reason. You can lose, but only to learn how to win.”

The Belgium international is pleased to see Arturo Vidal join Inter and hopes the Nerazzurri can benefit from his wealth of experience.

“It’s very important, he’s a great player. You don’t win so much with different teams if you’re not top level.”

Lukaku admitted Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is one of the toughest defender in Serie A.

“They are all strong in Italy. Koulibaly is tough, I love the battle with the opponent. Even against [Ragnar] Klavan, [Marash] Kumbulla, [Leo] Bonucci or [Alessio] Romagnoli.

“A good defender makes the forward better, because it forces him to give everything.”

Lukaku believes Inter midfielder Nicolò Barella will develop into a ‘very important’ player for the Italian national side.

“Barella will be a very important player. He has developed a lot and it’s impressive, even his mentality.

“I also respect [Moise] Kean and [Federico] Chiesa.”
