Romelu Lukaku is on the verge of pulling off a return to Inter as talks between the Nerazzurri and Chelsea progress well.

The 29-year-old Belgian striker joined the Blues last summer in a deal worth around €115m and expectations were high, but things did not go to plan. Lukaku only netted eight goals in 26 Premier League appearances and looked a shell of his true self wearing a Chelsea shirt, hardly resembling the star seen in the Lombardy capital.

As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, an agreement between Inter and Chelsea regarding a loan move for Lukaku is close. The Nerazzurri’s initial offer was a €5m loan fee, below the €10-15m requested by the Blues, but the two parties are negotiating well, with both parties keen to finalise a deal.

Thomas Tuchel has already accepted that Lukaku wants to leave this summer and he convinced new owner Todd Boehly to allow the Belgian to return to Italy, despite the financial ramifications.

Talks will continue over the following days and an agreement could be reached as early as next week, allowing Inter to take advantage of the Growth Decree law.

  1. The Premier League is not for everyone. Some players do not belong at the highest level in the world’s best league. Lukaku is the biggest proof of our league’s dominance.

  2. Are u serious, lukaku absolutely killed it at Everton and at united to some extent. He’s a system player and unfortunately found himself in a wrong system. Under conte or Jose lukaku balls in any league and time and place.. Im sick of the Premier league bullocks
