Luis Alberto is not in the Lazio squad travelling for tomorrow’s Serie A game against Lecce, while the President of Spanish side Cadiz claims ‘he wants to join us.’

The midfielder has never been entirely in sync with coach Maurizio Sarri and the 4-3-3 formation, often dropped in favour of Toma Basic and Danilo Cataldi.

He had also been pushing for an exit over the summer and turned up late to pre-season training before resolving those differences.

It’s reported Luis Alberto is not in the Lazio squad travelling to Lecce for Wednesday’s opening Serie A game of 2023, officially due to an on-going knee inflammation.

However, it comes on the same day that there are reports Cadiz have made a proposal for Luis Alberto.

Club President Manuel Vizcaino commented on the rumours to local media and made clear that although there is interest from both sides, financially it is simply unfeasible.

“Luis Alberto is impossible right now, an impossible dream, but I really appreciate that the player wants to come to Cadiz.

“We are talking about a player who would suit any team for his experience and potential, but it’s impossible at this moment.”
