Napoli are expected to leave club record signing Hirving Lozano in the stands against Barcelona this evening, effectively cutting him out of the squad.

The Champions League Round of 16 tie kicks off at the Stadio San Paolo at 20.00 GMT.

All reports point to the Mexico international not even earning himself a spot on the bench, so he could watch from the stands.

It’s the latest setback for the 24-year-old, who is Napoli’s most expensive ever signing from PSV Eindhoven for €38m over the summer.

Carlo Ancelotti was determined to sign Lozano for his team, but since Gattuso took over in mid-December, ‘Chucky’ has barely set foot on the pitch.

He made five Serie A substitute appearances in 10 rounds, for a grand total of 61 minutes of football, and one Coppa Italia start for 75 minutes against Perugia on January 14.
