Napoli forward Hirving Lozano has been discharged from the clinic in Dallas, Texas, after an intervention on a deep cut near the eye.

The Mexico international was stretchered off during the Gold Cup game against Trinidad and Tobago after a horrible collision with the opposition goalkeeper’s knee.

He was left with a huge gash over his eye and the Mexican Federation announced the attacker underwent a successful intervention, ruling the striker out for ‘four to six weeks’.

The Federation has given updates on Lozano’s conditions and have revealed the former PSV Eindhoven star has been ‘discharged from the SNM clinic in Dallas’ after the required medical exams.

“Lozano was discharged from the SNM clinic in Dallas, Texas, after the relevant neurological studies were carried out and were favourable,” the statement from the Mexican Federation said.

The 25-year-old, who moved to Napoli from the Eredivisie side in August 2019, now starts his rehabilitation and will most likely miss the first weeks of action in 2021-22.

Lozano has contributed 20 goals in 77 competitive games with the Azzurri and was a key player when Gennaro Gattuso’s men finished fifth in Serie A last term, contributing 11 goals in the process.

Napoli have started the preparations for the new season, where Luciano Spalletti has replaced Gattuso in charge of the Partenopei.
