The 56-year-old has seen recent results and the sale of Hernanes prompt Ultras at the Stadio Olimpico into a series of protests aimed at him, from filling out the ground to whistle him, to leaving it empty last weekend.
However, the Rome-born entrepreneur has once more responded resolutely and made clear that he is not going anywhere.
“I am a fighter and a survivor,” Lotito has stated on Raisport this week.
“Saying I would leave the club to my son? It is not in the sense of defiance, but in the sense of certainty for the future, so we are not transient.
“Everything I do is in the total spirit of service. Since I have been Lazio President I have had nothing but trouble, it has been a pain. I have an obligation to a project for the future which will make the fans smile.
“Since I have taken the presidency I can say – the club was bankrupt, it has now recovered, and this is the trend for Italian football. Since I have been here, there is representation in the League and with the FIGC that we have never had in our history. There is a chain of shops, a radio station, a television channel.
“When I took on Lazio, there was €550m of debt. I am used to looking into the future and I believe that Lazio is the future, a future that for the fans is certainly healthier. Today Lazio is a strong company in the capital.
“The technical project? Three years ago I was challenged about the youth sector. Today we have the highest ranked Primavera team. I am guilty only in having too much affection.”
Lotito has been criticised for the club’s direction in the transfer market.
“I have a list of purchases, but I’m a representative of the institutions and at this moment it is not possible to speak of the market.
“We will buy more players, even an attacker who is already known to the media. They will be of a high standard.”
