Cagliari Coach Diego Lopez says his side have to believe they can secure safety ahead of their match at Fiorentina.

The Sardi are in the relegation zone with just two matches of the season remaining, lying one point behind Udinese, Chievo and Crotone.

They have won just once in their last eight matches, a run of form that has seen the Uruguayan’s position come under threat.

Cagliari could be relegated this afternoon, but the Coach insists both players and fans must continue to believe they can beat the drop.

“I am focused on the team, not on individuals,” Lopez said ahead of this afternoon’s crucial trip to Florence.

“We will probably go back to our traditional formation. In defence we have recovered some players.

“We need to believe we can make it, then show it on the pitch. The team is in good shape and ready to put in a good performance.

“But a good performance is not enough, we need something more. The boys know that and they are ready.

“There will be a lot of our fans there. We all need to believe together that we can stay up.”
