Spain Coach Julen Lopetegui claims Napoli star Pepe Reina “was the best goalkeeper in Serie A last season.”
The veteran turned 34 this week and celebrated with a recall for international duty.
“We cannot and do not want to close the door to anyone,” Lopetegui told Sport.
“I am the Coach of everyone and pay close attention to everything that happens in the world of football.

“There might be a difference of opinion, which of course has to be respected, but Pepe Reina was the best goalkeeper in Serie A last season.
“That is why we thought it was right to call him up.”
Spain are in the same 2018 World Cup qualifying group as Italy.
