After loaning Arthur from Juventus last summer, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are looking for more midfield reinforcement in Serie A and have been linked with Sofyan Amrabat and Teun Koopmeiners.

The Reds loaned Brazilian midfielder Arthur from Juventus six months ago, but the move has been unfruitful given that the ex-Barcelona man has been struggling with injuries making just two appearances for the Reds.

Liverpool can make his move permanent for €37.5m, but it appears unlikely that they’ll spend this much at the end of the season.

They could, however, invest the same fee in another Serie A midfielder as both Koopmeiners and Amrabat have been linked with a move to Anfield.

Amrabat hasn’t yet started any game for Fiorentina after the World Cup but is expected to feature in the starting XI on Thursday’s Coppa Italia game against Sampdoria.

The contract of the Morocco international expires in June 2024, but Fiorentina will activate a clause to extend his stay at the club by one more season.

The other option in midfield is Atalanta‘s Koopmeiners, who was part of the Netherlands’ squad in Qatar.

Atalanta director Tony D’Amico has confirmed Liverpool’s interest in the 24-year-old, scorer of six goals in 22 appearances this term.

He warned the Reds that the Dutch midfielder wouldn’t leave in January, but according to reports in Italy, Atalanta could begin negotiations if they receive an offer in the region of €40m.
