Liverpool have released advice for their fans ahead of the Roma game, warning “under no circumstances attempt to walk to the Stadio Olimpico”.
Tensions are high after Reds supporter Sean Cox was left in a coma following an alleged assault before the Champions League first leg, and there are over 1,000 police assigned for this game.
The English side met with Roma, police and UEFA last week to discuss safety, and they’ve issued advice to their fans before tonight’s match.

Fans are advised to socialise at Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna and are “strongly advised to use the available shuttle buses to the stadium, which will run from Piazzale delle Canestre” from 4pm.

Supporters are urged to arrive at the Stadio Olimpico as early as possible, with ID which matches the name on their ticket with “ticket and bag checks expected to be long and arduous”.
Fans could be held back at the stadium until 1am, but the match will be replayed on a the big screens, with shuttle buses taking the fans back to the centre.
The buses will be under full police escort, and will return fans to Villa Borghese.
Once there, coaches will take fans to Fiumicino Airport, with taxis available to head back in to the city. Once again “under no circumstances should supporters attempt to walk back into the city”.
Supporters should not travel alone or wear colours and are warned to co-operate with the local police.
Liverpool also warn “supporters are reminded to respect monuments of national importance, with a particular emphasis placed on not hanging banners and/or scarves on fountains and statues”, with drinking on the street banned.
Reds fans should avoid the north of the city, particularly around Ponte Milvio Bridge.
Any fan trying to get in to the match without a ticket will be “detained for the duration of the match as a minimum”.
