Lecce coach Fabio Liverani wants all the teams to go through tests in an event of a return in Serie A. “The positive tests also increase in football”.

The Giallorossi were 18th in Serie A, only behind Genoa on goal difference, when the season was suspended, and the coach reveals that they will be ready “like everyone else” if the FIGC decides to restart the campaign.

“[We will be ready] like all the others, even if it won’t take two weeks to get back on top of things after such a long break,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “The heat is coming. There are many uncertainties.

“And I would say, before starting again, it would be a good thing that all the teams undergo tests. I don’t want to enter the recent controversies, but in Lecce, as in other cities, tests have not been carried out. The rules prohibit it.

“For general protection, we must be sure that the whole League is free from the virus. To protect health, but also to never stop. We won’t have much time.”

The clubs are struggling to cope with the high salaries and the loss of income and Liverani agrees that everyone must participate to get out of the current situation.

“Each of us must do our part in this delicate moment, so I’m not afraid of the economic sacrifices,” he added. “Be careful, however, to protect professionals from the lower leagues, the profits are small there.”
