“We are facing an international-level team and must be able to soak up the pressure when they push forward. Our job is to make them run backwards. We need humility, sacrifice and focus,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Roma are a side who want to control the game and then strike in the final third. They beat Sassuolo comfortably, while they were beaten by Atalanta on the counter-attack.

“Having seen a few of their games, it seems to me they tend to struggle when attacked with a high press. They are very strong in one-on-one situations, though.”

It is a special game for Liverani, who spent much of his career playing for Roma’s arch-rivals Lazio.

“Everyone knows my story, that I am from Rome and as a child was a Giallorossi fan, but as a professional I was even the Lazio captain. It’ll be exciting for me to face that past.”

Lecce are newly-promoted to Serie A, but have already made quite an impact, beating Torino and SPAL, although both those wins were away from home.

“We also tended to play better away in Serie B last season, so it’s an issue of mentality. I always knew it’d be tough to get points in the first 10 rounds, but I wouldn’t say I’d have been happy with six points after five rounds. I always aim for the maximum result.”

Panagiotis Tachtsidis has recovered and is in the squad, but Diego Farias, Gianluca Lapadula and Cristian Dell’Orco miss out.

“Giannelli Imbula needs time and we cannot force his return unless it’s an emergency situation. He can play about 30 minutes, but in mid-afternoon it’s not ideal conditions for those who aren’t fully fit.”

Lecce squad for Roma: Riccardi, Vera, Petriccione, Lucioni, Benzar, Mancosu, Falco, Shakhov, Rossettini, Meccariello, La Mantia, Dubickas, Gabriel, Vigorito, Tabanelli, Gallo, Calderoni, Rispoli, Babacar, Lo Faso, Majer, Tachtsidis, Imbula, Bleve
